NASA’s Mars Rover Perseverance Completes Successful Landing

On February 18, 2021, NASA’s Mars Rover Perseverance successfully landed on the Red Planet. The landing marked the culmination of a complex and high-stakes mission which had been in the works for years.

After launching from Earth on July 30, 2020, Perseverance traveled a distance of more than 300 million miles to reach its destination. Upon entering Mars’ atmosphere, the rover had to withstand intense heat and deceleration as it approached the surface.
